June’s end of the season program for the Whatcom Writers & Publishers organization was an Author’s Panel with a followup Speed-dating style visit per table with each speaker.
The participating authors were:
- Alma Alexander
- Chris Boyd Brewer
- Susan Colleen Browne
- Diane Cordrey
- Nanette J. Davis
- Jo Dereske
- Ken Morrow
- Sara Stamey
- Fred Su
The top topics were the ‘blood bath’ in NY publishing and the Internet, separately. The authors ranged from commercially published, to academic/educationally published, to self-published. Some were interested in the computer as a writing tool only, and one admitted to ‘twitching’ fits if her Internet connection went down.
After the panel questions, each author visited with the members for ten minutes per table. This allowed for broader discusses and a looser conversation. There was only one author I hadn’t chit-chatted with at previous meetings.

Best quote of the evening: Alma Alexander, when asked to quickly sum up for the panel: “God, if I could do this, I would twitter.”
