My daughter recieved a book of Children’s stories for Christmas. We’ve been reading through it when the City Mouse vs Country Mouse caught my eye. I know the story well. The city mouse visits the country mouse and the country mouse then visits the city mouse. Both are more comfortable in their own homes and are uncomfortable and frustrated in the other’s home. This book has a unique twist that it adds a moral of the story at the end. The moral for this story is
“Better a poor and carefree life than a rich and worried one.”
The idea is that the country mouse has the better life. I thought “Really?” I always thought the story was something more along the lines of
“To each his own.”
That’s probably because I’m a city mouse.
