This week’s books added to my TBR pile include:
A note about this list: any genre, any writer, any good recommendation.
Last night we (dearest hubster and I) had a date which included topping off at the Goodwill Bookshelves. Goodwill is kind enough to move all major award winners (Pulitzer, National Book Award, etc) to a single location in the stacks. These tomes happen to be across the aisle from the college doorstops. Not sure if someone has a sense of humor but the shelving genie is not as accurate as I would like so I check both stacks. Here is what I found:
All The Pretty Horses by Cormac McCarthy. I’ve heard so much about this book. And it’s in Texas. I don’t ever leave that place, I just live somewhere else.
Corelli’s Mandolin by Louis De Bernieres. I loved this movie. Give me a WWII story and I’m there.
Talking Mysteries: Tony Hillerman and Ernie Bulow. Found this in the college doorstop stacks. I’m not a huge Hillerman fan but I expect to learn something.
The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood. I feel like I heae her name a million times a week. Is it just me? Anyway, never read her before so there ya go.
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte (me, sucker for romance). I actually had a friend tell me he thought this was an awful book a month ago. I was speechless. I hope he was kidding.
Love it! I just started reading again after a several year hiatus, finished ‘Friday’ by Heinlein last week. I can’t speak to most of these (yet) but I will always love Wuthering Heights.
I’ve never heard of Friday but I love the cover art on the book at amazon. Sounds almost like Barbarella.
